A research team led by Professor Jaehyun (Jason) So of the Department of Transportation System Engineering received the Excellence Award at the Mobility Hub Idea Competition hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

Held from November 19 to December 16, the competition was organized under the theme of "conceptualizing a multimodal transportation facility space for a selected area within Seoul, taking into account local characteristics." It was held to gather a wide range of ideas on mobility hubs where diverse modes and services are interconnected, including autonomous vehicles, Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and personal mobility devices.

Joining Professor So on the team were students Jihyuk Park, Gyungtaek Oh, and Jiho Hong of the Smart Transportation Lab (now Movelab), together with Professor Sanghyun Kim of Korea Aerospace University. Through collaboration with the UAM research team at Korea Aerospace University, the team planned an integrated mobility concept in which the transportation systems of ground, underground, and low-altitude airspace are interconnected.

Submitted under the title "Seoul MISO Hub (Seoul Mobility Integration and Service Operation Hub)," the proposal presented a mobility hub for the spatiotemporal expansion of mobility services, such as daytime and nighttime operation or underground, ground, and low-altitude airspace coverage, by linking the existing public transit system with mobility services based on autonomous driving, UAM, and personal mobility devices. The plan included the vision and objectives of the mobility hub, along with its functions, site selection by facility type, facility requirements, and strategies for maximizing service utility.

With the Excellence Award, the team received a prize of 10 million KRW, and the winning proposals will be utilized in Seoul's future policy research related to the development of a multi-level transportation city.
